A short thriller by Sarah Starpen

Evan Mercer hated driving this stretch of highway at night. The fog always came in thick, rolling across the asphalt like something alive. Tonight it was worse than usual dense enough that his headlights felt swallowed whole.

His GPS chirped again, rerouting him for the third time.

“Come on,” he muttered, tapping the screen. The map spun, glitched, then froze. Perfect.
